Mike Crawford came off the bench firing, with a career high 19 points to lead SLU to a 75-69 win over #295 Texas-Pan American.
Stu Durando uncovered that Crawford had been battling a mysterious illness since early in the season.

SLU Player Stats
(Definitions at bottom of post)
- Career high 19 pts for Mike Crawford. We will see if his return to good health translates into more minutes or shifting lineups
- Very efficient game from Yacoubou (17 pts on only nine shots)
- Probably the strongest game yet from the starters. Crawford leapt over them all with his shooting and foul-drawing, but the next four top contributors by AdjGS were starters.
- Once again Roby’s contributions do not tally well in this format. When we get proximity data from SportVU or similar technology, we will be able to attribute UTPA’s Shaquille Hines suppressed output to Roby or another Billiken.
- Fewer negative contributions — just 20 minutes overall out of 200 — allowed the top contributors to keep the good stuff on the table
Summary
SLU jumped out to an early lead but Texas-Pan American kept it interesting enough to provide for Meaningful Minutes in the second half. Mike Crawford had his best game since Game One this season, and likely the best game of his career.

AdjGS: variation on the Game Score metric created by John Hollinger, detailed here. Hollinger’s original formula is Adjusted to reallocate the points in the game by ratio of the player’s overall impact. Credit to the team at Rock M Nation for this improvement.
True Shooting %: Per Basketball Reference, true shooting percentage is a measure of shooting efficiency that takes into account field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws.
